Allow me to introduce myself… my name is Daniel, I’m 32 years old, originally from south-east London, and have been hired by Ghost as a Web developer to replace Jay, who has gone onto greener pastures.
I’ve been interested in the World Wide Web, and building sites for it, since the late 1990s. In 2006, after many years of bedroom-based trial-and-error learning about the technology that powers the Web, I started at the University of Worcester, and three and a half years later I graduated with a First Class Honours BSc in Computing/Web Development.
I’m what you might call a jack-of-all-trades developer: I know enough about each of the many different fields of the Web (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, XML, RSS, PHP, MySQL, Apache, et al) to get by, and if there is something I don’t know – I know where to go to find out (in fact, I always welcome the opportunity to learn something new – so don’t hold back).
I also have a keen interest in Usability (building intuitive systems that are easy to use) and Accessibility (making sure that all your customers can access the information they need) because I believe that the Web is for everyone.
Anyway, keep your eye on this blog (or subscribe to our RSS feed), and in the coming months I’ll post articles on the latest trends on the Web, and what you can do to improve your own website.
(PS, in case you’re wondering, the title of this post is a reference to the song that Terry keeps singing at me
)
